i need to know how to take an older HDD(not sure on the specs i didnt put it in) and put it into another tower as a second HDD to retrieve old files from the old drive. need to do this without removing the current drive in my pc (also no specs its a prebuilt comp) because we need the files on it. also the PSU doesn't work in the old tower so no i cant just plug it into a monitor and put it on a flash drive. hope you can help

awesome thanks i might not be able to do exactly that because my mom doesn't really want me to mess up her stuff already on the current drive so ill have to convince her that i know what 'im doing

There's no chance of messing anything up because you'll be copying of the old drive, not the new.

remember in some instances the files will be un-copyable unless you claim/change the ownership of the drive (much more common on older systems) this can be done from the security options of the drive and comes under owner, and replacing owner containers.

plus you will have to make it as "Slave" (old disk) if you are trying to connect it to the same IDE cable on new system. this doesnt apply to sata drives
