Need help with swaping hard drives

Hi everybody long time reader, first time poster! So here is the story, skip this paragraph if you wana get rid of the "fluff". Recently I fried the motherboard in my HP DV6000 laptop, by accidentally soaking it with water. I had a HP DV9000 that I got for free with a bad video chip. I resoldered the video chip, took the hard drive out of the Dv6000 and the memory and put it in the DV9000. When attempting to boot the DV9000 with the DV6000 hard drive, I would get a blip of a blue screen and then it would get stuck in a boot loop.
I know enough about computers to make me dangerous, by this I mean really screwing them up. When I use the DV9000 hard drive the computer works fine. When I attempt to use the DV6000 hard drive the computer gets the blip of a blue screen and then the boot loop. The DV9000 has windows XP installed on it and the DV6000 hard drive has windows Vista on it. I am assuming that because the motherboards are diffrent, that the bios need to be changed on the DV6000 hard drive to run the laptop. There was a extra slot for a hard drive in the DV9000 so I can access both of em. Any help on figuring out how to change all the bios settings and what not over to the DV6000 hard drive so that I can run the computer off of that would be appreciated.

You can't do that. The old drive had a different operating system installed with different drivers. This is why its bluescreening and then rebooting on you. You will need to do a fresh install of windows after backing up any important data that is.

I was figuring on that just wanted to see if it was at all posible to fix it. I have to much stuff scattered all around on the old hard drive that I am too lazy to try to find and back up

Then boot to the DV9000 drive and just explore the DV6000 drive in Windows.

that is what I have been doing but I would like all the settings and what not that were on the dv6000 hard drive, not to mention that the xp hard drive will only reconize 2 gigs of memory and I have 4
