Need help with upgrading RIG

Cat bus

I'm disappointed in my 9600 GT, which is holding me back from upgrading to a 24" monitor. I have got some money from Christmas and my Birthday, + my mom can give in some so I can upgrade my GPU.

First thing's first. Which GPU is good? I was thinking of a 9800gtx+ which is really good for me, but a 4850 ATI is much cheaper and more bang for the buck which is what I need. However I've never really had a ATI card and I'm kinda nervous about getting one. I bet I'd get problems and then feel stupid for wasting my money AGAIN. :(

I believe my board is CF ready so that's a plus. Not SLI though.

I'd probably need a new PSU too. Mine is only 500 W and I think It's been causing some of the crashes and start up problems that I've been getting.

The real problem is selling my parts though...

I'm gonna try at a ebay sort of site (not ebay, people in my country use a diff one but it's practically the same thing).

I've got 0 rep at it so I'm not sure if people would want to buy it. I can offer my phone number. How much would I be able to sell it for though? Would I be able to sell my PSU too?

Also, I got my parts at store so if my parts where to ever die, that's where'd I have to go and I'm sure that will cause problems with selling.

Help please!

what make and model is your psu? ati requirs 450 watt at "30amps" (amps are the important bit mind)

also the 4850 is a very good card, ive been using mine for a few months now!!

what are your complete pc specs, see if there would be any bottle neck etc

I think mine is 22 amps :/

here it is: http://www.modecom.eu/product.php?id=426&categoryId=6

Don't say it sucks because you didn't hear about it, I heard that it's quite good and had it recommended by a computer expert

Specs

AMD 6000+ @ 3.3 GHz
2 GB DDR2 800 MHz ram
Windows xp home 32 bit

well its not really good enough to power the 4850 so its not brilliant!

rest of you spec is fine, i would advise on buying a psu with above 30amps

unfortunatly i had to upgrade mine at christmas as my 550watt thermaltake wouldnt power my rig with all the cathodes on etc

if you want to upgrade you need to upgrade your psu

use this link---> http://www.computerforum.com/90110-power-recommendations-video-card.html?highlight=psu+101

I don't get where I find the 30 aps though...

On a chart showing the power and amps of the PSU, which voltage matters? Do I need 30 amps on the 12V? How does that work?

PS: Will I be good with a 500 W PSU

Yeah try corsair psu's antec makes a pretty good one as well.
I'd also recomend the 4850 great price/performance card.

I used gpureview.com a lot when I was deciding which card to buy. You can compare the specs between cards. I eventually settled on the HD 4850 using the bang-for-buck criterion.
