need help with vista restore?

have hp pavillion. had issues installing critical updates.

hp made me get a 2nd hard drive(identical to first) and back up all my files to 2nd drive (d) and then reformat drive (c) from the factory discs.

got that all done. system running again.

only problem i have,

i dont know how to get all the files, pictures and music back onto my new "C" drive desktop.

drive "d" contains:

back up set 2008-7-23 002212 with 8 weekly backups, including last.

also contains

back up set 2008-12-29 210314 which was the first back up of the new "c" drive.


i tried my best.

i got all the files in a folder marked "important" usuing system restore.
but theres 47,000 files. and alot, like hp01.jpg has like 10 copies of same file/picture.

so i did something wrong. hp no help now, as computer works.

anyone know how to get old desktop back up on c drive so i have all the files, pictures, ect?

any help appreciated, thanks

I had the same problem. I sent it back to the Future Shop ( where I got it) and they did it for me. But I am not to sure how to actually do it try googling it. Sorry if this didn't help.

thanks, no dice....it seems really complicated.

comp mfgr wants me to pay them to restore it, after they told me to back it up to fix an issue with a critical update. i got like 47,000 files now, no folders...all files
