Need help with windows!!

I was wondering if you could help me with my computer? I have trouble installing windows xp.

It says: INF file txtsetup.sif is corrupt or missing, status 18 Setup connot continue. Press any key to exit.

What version of XP are you installing? Is a pre Service pack 1 install cd? Sounds like you are trying to manually install sata drivers before the install starts.

It is windows xp professional with service pack 3 x86, which I got from my cousin on usb.

Then I would assume that he created a custom install and it doesn't work correctly. Contact him. Hopefully you have a valid key for the install.

You will need to contact your friend to see if he made a custom install. Don't you actually have a physical install cd?

Some USB sticks don't work too well for installing. I have had luck with Toshiba USB sticks.

I would see if you can get a CD off him. See if that helps.
