Im new and not sure where to post this....

I have been experiencing problems with my computer. After trying to fix these problems for a while, I have not been succesful at finding a cure on my own.

1.The sound cuts out when Im playing games, lissening to music/video's (media player, Quicktime, ect.), streaming, ect... it cuts out then come's back, does this back and forth. at first it only did it a couple times and I could live with it, but lately it cuts out more than it plays. I tried all updates, uninstall/re-install sound drivers, played with my wiring ect... no go

any ideas what it could be? I was thinking maybe my sound card is dying?

I have a asus p4p800-e delux MB (which i believe has intregated sound card)
also have a ATI TV wonder pro video w/sound card
and an altec lansing Va 4221 speaker system

***edit to add:*** I forgot to mention that the digital equalizer in Win media player (media player 10: energy bliss) goes flat when the sound cuts out.

2. when I boot up I get the following message "IDE scanning drives
No drive attached to Fastrack controller .... The Bios is not installed"

3. I am getting alot of "DR watson Postmortem debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close...."

any ideas guys?

stick in some headphones to check that it is not the speakers. trying installing the sound card into another computer and user the headphones. if the sound cuts on the other computer then the card is dying.

for the bios. go into bios and write down some of the settings you need. pop open the case and clear the bios. there is a jumper near the battery. move the jumper over to the next pin pair for 5 seconds then put it back. that should clear up the ide bios thing. i hope
