need help

i have been trying to delete some files i've downloaded fr Ares but to no result. the message are

cannot delete donnie brasco dvd rip divx:it is being used by another person or program.close any programs that might be using the file and try again.

i have closed all programs related to the file but still unable to delete.
i'm using window xp home edition..

pls advise on any other way to delete the file

You could try turning off the computer and booting into safemode at startup.
Press F8 before windows starts and select to boot into safe mode and try and delete it there.
If you don't know how to boot into safe mode look here.

You could try to delete it through command line go to start->run-> and type "cmd". then allocate the folder you need like "cd directoryName" and then use the command "del fileName" OR " del fileName.extensionOfFile" if it doesnt work use "erase" instead of "del".
directoryName = name of the directory the file is allocated
fileName= the name of the file you want to delete
extensionOfFile= the extension of the file you want to delete such as ".exe, .mp3 etc"
