need help!

ok i brought a new computer anf got everything running but when i start it ok i get a message saying boot fail and then it gives me the option to continue or enter setup. i click setup and i enter the bios menue and then i but everything to defualt and save and exit.then another messeage comes op giving me different options to start windows normally or safe made. i tried safe mod and start windows normal.. but i8 just get a message saying error saying the hard drive is corrupted or have a virus and if dont continue..

hard drive is a samsung spinpoint series 80 gb from my old computer..it still has windows xp and all my other programs..can anybody help with this problem

If you built a new system, you will need to reload a new copy of Windows on the drive.

You will have to buy windows, OEM software off Newegg.com runs about $120 for either XP or Vista

is that why im getting the error? boot fail.so when i get windows xp i just put it in drive and then start the computer and if sould start ti install right?

Yeah, you will see the existing partition and then it will lead you through the process of formatting the drive.
