Need Info On Motherboard

greetings,
i have a friend of mine that wants to increase his processor speed (processor replacement) on his motherboard. i seem to be getting different and conflicting info on how fast a processor this mobo will support. following is what info i have;

K7-910LMR S/S (or SIS)730 boardvideo/sound/AMR Modem/LAN
Serial #: 5602E14300557 M810LR
(**i believe that this is an asrock board http://www.asrockamerica.com/ )

PC266 SystemBoard
Socket A
M810 series

Mainboard has a Socket-462 processor socket for an AMD K7 type CPUs.

This mainboard uses the T-Bird chipset which integrates 128-bit AGP Graphics Accelerator and provides an optional 4XAGP slot for highly graphics display.

Supports AMD Athlon/Duron processors.

can anyone tell me with certainty what is max size processor?...thanks again!

I beleive that's the motherboard in question. I can't find an clear answer to what processor will work in it, but I beleive most of the Athlon XP's would work(at least the ones before they hit 333MHz FSB) For sure the Athlon Thunder Bird series would work.

...thanks for the reply, however, i am told that the board has only 2 slots for ram for a max of 1gb and the ram is sd as opposed to ddr..here is some additional info (about current processor);

Dude, just run CPUz and get use the exact specs. What's probably going on is the system(if that is in fact your board) accepts either DDR or SD-RAM. Because you can't use both at once, it probably only detects your SD-RAM in the system, and not the open DDR slots.

...thanks for the reply...the computer is in new york and i am in florida, ugh!..the info provided was from "winaudit"...however, i think i may be steering the topic the wrong way by posting info on the processor already in there as opposed to the motherboard itself.....if i recall, the computer's "birth" was about 2001 and i remember seeing the inside of the computer and somewhat remembering that it only had two (2) slots for sdram and no more in quantity or different type. to reiterate; PC266 SystemBoard Socket A M810 series.. he went to the amtron site which seemed (if i understood him correctly) to divert him to the asrock site as i previously mentioned. cpuid would not help here as it is the motherboard processor speed capacity i would be and am concerned with...thanks again for your help!

if its a new K7 motherboard then it will support an AMD XP 3200+ but no higher.
it will also support AMD duron's and athlons up to around 2600mhz

...thanks for the reply however, please see post #5 where i state that the computer was assembled in approx 2001 . i myself could never figure out processor speeds when they are listed as "2600 and 3200, etc" . i am used to 1.5, 2.4, etc...

i think i may have posted a copy of this in the wrong place so, i will post it here as follows;

greetings,
i thought i had posted this someplace but, i can't remember where!...i have a dell b110 computer with a 2.5 processor...someone told me that the max that my motherboard will accomodate is a 3.0ghz processor...can anyone verify that fastest processor and type i can place onto this board?

...i was also told that i could not overclock my current processor (was told that it could go to 4.0ghz) because it is a dell and dells have their bios' locked to prevent this...

......also, could someone tell me a little bit about what "socket" i would need and what "brand" it would support (celeron, amd, intell, sempron, etc)?....

.......my goal is to purchase another and faster processor and rip out all the damn duct-work the current setup has inside, and get a "normal" fan and heatsink setup which is the next question i have....would i ask a "vendor/seller" that i would need a fan and heatsink for a socket "xxx" ?......thanks again!
