well there are 3 models i have been looking at, btw i am a college student and it will be carried around with me to certain classes, so size is an issue, but i will be doing some video editing and dowloading on it, with some gaming also, i have up to $2200 to spend

with that being said, the m250x could be modded more with more memory, and so could the others justa little bit

just give me some opinions, thanks

since size is an issue the 9300 is 7.85 pounds and a large 17inch screen. however i was able to get the price of the exact specs you have listed and threw in the 9 cell instead of the 6 cell down to $1,680.25.

for portability reasons i suggest the inspiron 6000 with the following specs:
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 760 (2 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
Microsoft® Windows® XP Home
15.4 inch WXGA LCD Panel
1GB DDR2 SDRAM 2 Dimms
128MB DDR ATI's MOBILITY™ RADEON X300 PCI Express x16 Graphics
100GB Hard Drive
8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless (802.11 b/g, 54Mbps)
9-cell Lithium Ion Battery (80 WHr)
Free Dell Color Printer 720

TOTAL:$1,478.10

with the last laptop i listed the gateway should not be considered at all.

i have some online coupons. the 6000 has a smaller screen, lighter, and the video card isnt as good. the 9300 has the geforce 6800 which is a 12 pipeline video card. the x300 is a 4 pipeline video card which can run most games fairly well on lower-middle settings.

1 gb should be fine unless you plan to run a million programs at once.
