Need Laptop Drivers

I need laptop drivers for an Acer Aspire AS5534-1096. I have looked everywhere, Primarily just the drivers to get the XP installer off the ground and booted, I can find everything else like the LAN card and GFX card. But when I try to run my XP disc it BSODs because it doesn't have the proper drivers.

Thanks. :D:D:D

here's what you do:

download the raid driver for the amd 780g (your chipset) under additional downloads:

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownlo...t=2.7.4.3.3.3.1&lang=English&rev=9.11&ostype=

extract with an .exe extractor

use nlite to slipstream the sata drivers into your windows xp installation cd. see the nlite website for a guide.

it's a PITA, but it works.

or go into bios and find the option to run the disk drive in ide emulation mode instead of ahci. my guess is it wont let you, but it's the easier method and worth a shot,

I have a question about this, im a software guy so I know very little about the physical stuff. In the future when im trying to install an OS on a windows 7 computer with unsupported hardware all I have to do is download the RAID drivers? Im a little confused on exactly whats going on here im sorry this may sound stupid but I rarely deal with drivers.

Most laptops these days come installed with ahci enabled which requires the sata controller driver at the beginning of windows installation. Most laptops will allow you to change the controller option to native or IDE mode which then you won't be required to install the driver first. See if the one you have can be changed to Native or ide mode.

the 'raid driver' is actually the disk drive controller driver + the sata driver bundled into one .exe file and called a raid driver because that's what windows 7 would use to setup raid.

however, because windows xp cannot use sata disks 'out of the box', you need to install the disk controller driver during setup. if you had a floppy you would use the F6 option. but i'm pretty sure you don't so the solution is to slip-stream the driver onto the windows xp installation cd.

on my laptop ,AS5536, there is no option to use ide mode, at all; so i doubt yours does. i find this all weird, since you would need the driver to use any sata drives, including the dvd drive !!
(unless it is in ide mode or not a sata drive) i've had this problem before.

Ok I am slip streaming it right now, is there a rep system on here? I am new to this forum and if there is you both deserve it, again thanks, If I run into any problems I will let you guys know .

Well I just ran into a problem, immediatly after the CD went through the preparations to install the OS ( A full run of the first time ) and it restarted, rather then go to the install screen it says that it could not boot, I can give you the exact error that it gave me if needed. Windows 7 is already on here, and I am trying to dual boot from a guide given to me on the internet.

You never said you were trying to dual boot in the first place. Hopefully you don't screw up the windows 7 install. Just to forewarn you, that laptop doesn't have any XP drivers available from Acer. So trying to get that installed and running correctly might be a big chore.
