well i gave my desktop to my brother because i have no room for it and need something portable for college anyway.
right now im using my girlfriends old computer, a dell inspiron b130 but it's not nearly cutting it, and the sound doesn't work (i think the motherboard cracked, she was rough with it)
she bought a macbook which is nice but i really prefer a pc.

my budget is roughly 1k to 1.5k as an absolute max

i need it for casual gaming, movies, music, basic college stuff. and i also need to keep it for 4 years so i'll need top of the line for my budget. i want a 15 - 16 in. screen also

was looking at this, seems good for the price if anybody could give me feedback on it or suggestions for other labtops i'd greatly appreciate the help

first of all how do you crack the mobo no a laptop?
anyway i wana help not mock you.
As far as laptops go I love Toshibas and I would recommend
them to anyone, first of all I think they have the best speakers since you want to game on it. As far as technicality, they're fast and reliable.
Plus they last long, I have an old Techra M1 that I poured beer on, other than two sticky keys, it runs srong and well despite it's age previous owner and abuse that I put on it myself. I got another Toshiba satelite that I protect with my life. I've used acer, and dells but I think Toshiba is better.
For that price you should get a really good one too, I don't know whether it will be good enough to game, I would rather build a gaming pc, because gaming laptops are too expensive.
But anyway look around, check out Toshibadirect.com they should be having some offers right now.

HP, Toshiba, Dell, Sony all have excellent machines in a variety of configurations at 999.99 or less.

Check bestbuy, Futureshop, curcuit city..etc

Especially with back-to-school sales going on now!
