Hi Everyone,
I'm finally upgrading after about 5 years, and man, am I out of the loop. I'm not fully convinced that I've chosen the right Mobo, so I'd like some advice.
I'm hesitant with the limited list on the Mobo I've chosen for PC8500 RAM. I know I'm not getting PC8500 RAM right now, but I'd like the option in the future. Even PC6400 RAM, though, is limited on this mobo. How much should I pay attention to the "list of supported modules" for a particular mobo?
As far as RAM goes, I'm open to suggestions there as well, because I don't know much about quality RAM, nor which is good for OC'ing, nor which works well with particular Mobos.
I plan on OC'ing CPU/Memory, but not too much because I've never done it before. I want to be as future-proof as possible, but I can't spend $200 on a motherboard right now. I'm not planning on SLI, so that's not an issue.
This is what I'm considering:
So, what Mobo would you recommend for this setup?
I have a budget, but I know the PSU is super important, so I'm not going to set a limit. If I really need more than I can afford, I'll give a little on something else.
Again, I'm not sold on the Gigabyte Mobo or the Crucial Ballistix RAM, so any suggestions or confirmations are greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your help!!!
