I recently got a new graphics card fo my computer. it's a GeForce 9600 GT and it needs a at least 400w power supply, my computer only has 300w. if I buy a new one whats the best to buy. Also is it possible to have to much power for my computer?

I suggest you get a decent 500W - 600W, just in case you need another upgrade in future. You would looking at min of $50 to spend.
Also, make sure your case fit standard ATX PSU.

If you just want to spend on a 400W. CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX is the way to go as it is $30 after MIR

If you OK to spend more for 550W. May beBFG LS550 or OCZ Fatal1ty OCZ550FTY 550W

if i do get a better PSU, would my motherboard be able to handle more power or would it have to much power and overload. The motherboard is a NodusM3-GL8E.
P.S thanks for the info

You're looking at it the wrong way around. Upgrading your power supply does'nt mean it will provide more power to your equipment. It is ensuring you have enough power available and will only draw on what is needed.

If they made such a beast you could put a 2000 watt PSU in and it would still work. The motherboard, graphics card etc will take as much power as is needed only.

I suggest these two quality PSUs:

OCZ StealthXStream OCZ500SXS 500W ATX12V / EPS12V Active PFC Power Supply - Retail $39.99 after $20 rebate.

Thermaltake Purepower W0100RU 500W ATX 12V 2.0 Power Supply - Retail $39.99 after $20 rebate...note my rebate was sent out 2 weeks after paperwork was received.

Corsair always a good bet, but more expensive.

If your present card or future card calls for 400 watt, you need a PSU putting out more than that, since it is powering other components. Thus my reasoning for suggesting at least 500W PSUs.
