need motherboard suggestions

looking for a motherboard to go well with a 3800+ x2 and either a 7800gtx or gt. i've considered msi, asus, and dfi. i was thinking this dfi board ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136152 ) although the more i read the more it seems like the dfi board will be too confusing for me. i don't really need a board that will provide me with a ton of tweaking options through the bios and what not because i'll probably never use them. i'm wanting to save a little money on my board so i'll be able to get 2gb's of memory. any suggestions would be appreciated!

I would have to recommend DFI, I think they are a great company. I have a DFI UT Lanparty SLI-DR , and I love it. Also, I wouldnt say you dont want all that tweaking stuff, If you have just started messing with computers you may become interested in it later on. I think the link you gave is a great choice! Thats just my 2 cents.

what turned me away from it were two things.. 1) someone saying that the board was very picky on memory, and 2) "Now, I've heard that the LANPARTY is really hard to use if you don't know what you are doing."

oh yeah, and also this statement: "I've heard the lanparty boards can be difficult for a first timer, of course I cant testify because mine booted up the first time..."

how much was your set of memory? can you provide a link as well?

I would recommend an ASUS A8N-SLi Deluxe or the Premium. Depends on ur wallet. They are one of the best rigth now

As long as your not running really old no-name RAM you should be fine. My board didnt boot with a stick of K-byte PC2100 so thats why I say that.

By all means I would get the DFI. I wasnt trying to deter anyone with those statements but just a little heads up :)

If your wondering what RAM I have its OCZ VX DDR500 but aperently the egg doesnt carry it anymore.

i believe i'm going to get this ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820145486

The DFI's are highly praised because of their overclocking potential. The DFI Lan Party UT NForce4 Ultra-D is the best overclocker out of all s939 boards from what I know, and it has the best BIOS options and layout.

The reason people will say it's not for beginners is because of the many BIOS options, that a beginner would not kow how to use or even what they are for. Imagine a n00b setting his stock PC3200 @ 4v, yah say gooodbye to that RAM real fast.

I would also consider the A8N-E, but would personally rather have the DFI.

I can see how that might be the case. In light of that, I'd suggest you have a look at MSI K8N Neo4 boards :)

Since the memory controller is on the CPU and not the board, thats not true. Actually, the board is prolly more flexible (due to the massive voltage range)

I can pop noname ram into mine and be fine.

Its discontinued

actually, i've changed my mind again. this ram is nicer i believe (look at the timings)
yes but the timings come at a higher vDimm

I doubt it's the best but it's certainly up there :)

How often do n00bs tinker with barely labeled jumpers that say "CAUTION" on them ;) (and if they do... well...)
