Need Motherboard

I need a motherboard...how do I know what to buy?

My computer is:
Acer Inspire AM5640-45401a
Intel Pentium Dual Core Processer E2160
250 Ram
3GB
DDR2 memory
Windows Vista

First thing you NEED to know - you have DDR2 memory - dvr is not memory.

This is an inexpensive (sub $50) board you can use, it is the LGA775 socket and takes DDR2 memory.
You can use any board that fits these 2 criteria, assuming you only have 1 video card.
I recommend ASUS, Intel or EVGA's boards, however Gigabyte, ASRock and several other makers will provide a decent board for a good price.

Out of curiosity, how do you know you need a motherboard replacement?

How Do I Know

Not really positive but I took computer down to local repair shop whom said he was 99% sure it needed a motherboard and wanted $200 to do it. I know I can change it out, I'm just not sure what board to put in to it. Thanks for straighting me out on the DVR2 memory / DDR2 memory mistype Thanks for your help.
