I have had my ASUS AGP board for 2 years now..

I understand computers up until mobo an cpu. I get confused because there are sooo many an that because its the main thing everything else has to be compatable.

But to start, I just want to upgrade out of agp into pci-e. I have 300$ to spend on it. Any idea for a starter?

Probably ask me questions to get it started, as I siad I have no idea what I want besides it being a pci-e board.

I would recommend any of the ASUS A8N series- the one i have, the A8N5X, with one PCI-E slot, or one of the A8N-SLI variants with two for SLI. THey are very stable, and support all socket 939 AMD CPUs. But- if you want to wait just a second or two, you could get a new AM2 board, and you could use all the new AM2 CPUs.

I'll repeat that recommendation with the A8N-SLI Premium being at the top of my list. The deluxe version is good but has a noisy chipset fan that can fail and the A8N32-SLI is too expensive just to be able to run two 16X PCIe cards, and two cards also block all but 1 PCI slot.
