Need new Mainboard...

Im just curious if i get a new mainboard suppose to a HP mainboard which is limited to factory pre-sets and limitations tahts stops over clocking...am I going to be able over clock my processor and memory?

Im sure this is the case, as its just the mainboard stopping me from having these options right?

Ill just have to do a reinstall of my OS? and thats it?

Also, what do you ppl think is the most Id be able to OC an AMD+2 9550 qud core @ 2.2GHz? Will it be possible to get it to at least 3GHz with a new mainboard?, like a quality one for at least $250
 
your BIOS has no connection to your OS so reinstalling Windows will do nothing to help you overclock. If you have an HP BIOS without overclocking options then you are pretty much out of luck unless you can somehow find a way to find a hacked BIOS and flash it but its extremely risky and can definitely turn your motherboard into a paperweight...
 
Oh i realize that...

I was meaning if i got a new Asus mainboard which I did today that If can then OC ram and such.

And my other question/comment about the OS is taht when I aquired a new mainboard I will have reformat and reinstall the OS
 
Yes its best to do a clean install and a Asus board will have alot more overclocking features than a HP board. You will be lucky to get 3ghz out of a 9550. The few I,ve had around 2.7 was all they had.
 
hmmm Im having a problem with erasing my drive using what i usually use ( webroot erase )

I made a new isk after installing ther new mainboard, the othe disk i had for the hp board worked fine. but now it wont with the new board.
any suggestions on what program i should use?

Something fast and good!?
