need new video card

what is the one of the better cheaper video cards that i can buy, my computer is a little bit old (maybe a year or 2), but i need one to play cod 4. and it needs to be under $250. oh and im kinda new here and i also searched too
 
Well, Considering you have a motherboard that is 2 years old, it may have a AGP 8X, or PCI Bus slot. Some boards don't even put a graphics slot to save money like the one on my brothers EMachines. You may have to get a new motherboard that supports PCI-E x16 to get the newer cards, (8800GT, 8800GTS, 7950GS,) Post your board, however I may be wrong.
 
From experience, pre-built computers' manufacturers put in crap psu's. And, because it is a 2 year old pre-built, he probably wont be able to run a GT.

Hes better off getting a 7600 or 7900.
 
An 8800GT sucks about as much as a 8600... and 8600's suck little... so you don't have to go all out and get a 700W. A 500W should cut it nicely.
 
I have an hp a1250n and it has one pci-e slot. I would think yours would too being a higher product number and all. If you need a better psu the ocz gamextreem 700w works wonders in the hp. Slighly tight fit and have to zip tie a few extra wires, but it fits and works. I tried 2 other psu's from antec in my hp and they wouldn't boot, so be careful which ones you buy. Not all psu's will work with HP's priority parts. I know the OCZ works though and its a good product, and right now I think newegg has it on sale for $99. I am also planning on getting a 8800gt for my hp.
 
Also here is a link from hp for information on your computer if you need it. Gives mobo information and everything. Yours is about the same as mine, so the new card will work with a psu upgrade. Wow, I can't believe you have been floating with the integrated graphics this long. I changed to a card as soon as I got my computer lol. I wish I had yours thought u got 775, I'm stuck with 939 and not many upgrade options.
