Need parts for a 24/7/365 pc

Could anyone suggest pc parts for a computer that will be running 24/7 365 days a year. Needs to be very silent as I need to fall asleep while it is on.

I am mostly looking for a psu recommendation but you can list other parts if you want.

Well, unless you tell us what it will be doing/what you want to use it for, choosing components won't be as easy. The more detail and information you can give us, the better. For example, if you wanted a Core 2 Duo CPU, we may recommend a Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6, since it has an all-solid capacitor design = longer capacitor life span = longer computer life span.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, i thought he was asking why the computer needed to be on all the time. Well, i need a descent gaming pc with an AMD Athlon 64 X2.
 
PSU requirements will obviously vary depending on your other hardware. The Seasonic units are particularly quiet, however. The Aerocool Zero DBA is another PSU that is quiet at idle.

If you're looking for real silence, the FSP Zen is great if your power requirements are low. With higher power requirements, I'd see if I could find an XG Magnum. Fanless, and built like a tank.
