need pc help

Ok i restarted my familys pc back to the day we bought it and all it does is freeze, the screen goes black comes back on and goes black again and i cant get sp2 anymore is there anyway to fix this or are we screwed and need a new pc?

If you are talking about SP2 for XP that can still be found in the full 266mb download at http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/Windows-XP-SP2-RTM.shtml Simply save this to a folder and later burn it to a cd-r for safe keeping.

Software or hardware problems can both cause a system to lockup. You will have to provide a little more information on the make and model system as well as the actual problems seen and steps you took here. Do you have a Windows recovery disk? You may have to reinstall Windows as one possible means of getting things working normally again? Which version 2000, XP?
