So I went tot he library today to work on a project, and went to boot up my trusty old lappy when *gasp* it wouldn't start up. The fan would rev, but there'd be nothing displayed, and it soon shut off by itself. Another note: it apparently refused to charge. Im sure this has something to do with it.. I've even tried my sister's cable for her laptop (same kind). The light that indicated batt. charging doesn't light up at all. It does blink once though when plugging in, but that's it. Absolutely any suggestions here are greatly appreciated, as I am in the middle of this project, and I would hate to loose it now... Thanks all...

update

i actually got it going again by taking out some of the RAM. A bit odd... Does anyone know how I can find out how much ram my motherboard can support, as I think this was the problem..?

Hey there,
if you tell me the Manufacturer (compaq, dell) and model i can let you know what type of ram and how much..
Blake.

sure. It's a dell Inspiron 1100 and I believe it came with 256mb ram. right now its got 1gb ram. The memory is 200-pin, PC2100, unbuffered, non-ecc, DDR266, 2.5V. Hope that's enough info for you...

Hey,
i went on a couple websites i use and put in the Manufacturer and the model number and is said that the max ram for the motherboard in the dell Inspiron 1100 is 1 gig.
but maybe when you took out the ram it reset somthing.
Maybe try your sisters battery.
