Need Quick Help!

So I'm building my PC, and I put it together before putting it in my case (like in the newegg tutorial, if you've seen it.) As it boots, my monitor works fine until the boot error appears (No operating system, so no boot). But, the monitor has strips of green running horizontally. What could be the cause of this? Is the gpu faulty? I can get a picture if necessary.

Thank you so much.

Yes I think the GPU could be faulty regarding the green lines, I've had the same sort of thing happen to me before. Are you using onboard graphics or a dedicated card? If you have a dedicated card try reseating it (taking it out and putting it back in again), it may have got knocked lose or something.

It could also be the monitor. I have 3 Acer monitors which all had a green vertical line across them.

Yeah if the monitors are VGA it could be the cables, the quality of the picture on the screen is very dependant on the cable when it comes to VGA and analogue signals. Or it could just be a fault with the monitor. Have you got a different monitor and a different graphics card to try?
