Need Software

Hello everyone, Happy NEW YEAR

I need some software to clean useless files off my computer. Would someone like to recommend some?

I have Spy Bot and Ad-Aware

What else do I need? CC-Cleaner

Thanks for your input!

CCleaner... You named one right there. But you have to watch just what it decides to remove when using it. If you have a folder full of photos, jpg files, bitmaps, gif, or other loose files it will automatically delete those at times. A good number of empty folders are usually found in the sub directories of MyDocumentsandSettings under your user name. CCleaner would generally take care of those for you.

Spybot and AdAware SE are intended for adbots, spybots, and other bugs but not useless empty folders that cling on. For deeper system scans as far as trojan downloaders and other types of malwares you can install the trial version of Trend Micro's PC-cillin. That will uninstall other antivirus programs by default. But it includes it's own firewall, spyware remover, and can find things the other removers often miss.

The latest review of the top ten system protectors offers this review seen at http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/pc-cillin-review.html

You can download the free 30day trial at http://www.trendmicro.com.au/consum...p=4&family=42&id=88&rightnav=3,0&related_id=0 It also sets up a toolbar in Outlook Express for reporting spam and fraud as well as blocking the senders.

Thanks for your decent reply...ill look forward to it.
is there anyway to increase internet speed? I have 1.5mbs internet connection from Telus and 3 computers are using it through a wireless router, however, i get Low signal (even though its across from me in my mom's room) and i get speeds of 140kB/s while my friends get 250-300kB/s.

Thanks

Btw, i use DSL

The main drawbacks I have been hearing on many wireless and even some hard wired home routers is the cut in bandwidth when running multiple systems at times. The other more common problem isn't so much the type of connection and service but the ISP servers you have to access along with the servers for sites you visit.

At certain periods day or night the amount of users is like a heavy traffic jam where it seems to "take forever" to get a page to open at times. At other times the same page will open in a blink of the eye. The servers are free or simply only seeing light amounts of people logged on there.

This is the actual problem in most cases. Too often someone blames connection or a virus when the actual time is the thing to look at. At certain times of late afternoon or sunrise it takes awhile to browse pages here due to the local servers of the ISP not CF. I use 512kb DSL here while seeing a few downloads at times at low speeds like 8-12kps! The thing to look at there is either the ISP, download site, of even both seeing the slowdown.
