im currently on vista 32, but will be upgrading to 64 in the near future

i need some new ram, now what do you guys advise best to get out of

2 x 1gb = 2gb 1066 mhz

or

2 x 2gb = 4gb 800mhz

2 x 2gb = 4gb 800mhz
^^Better. The speed difference ain't even remotely enough to make up for the extra 2GBs, you're way better off with lots of slightly slower RAM.

Of course, I'm assuming that the latencies are not way off.

Just get the slower RAM, if the price difference is that big. DDR2-1066 will not give a slightest bit of real-life performance gains over DDR2-800 (again, I'm assuming that the latencies are fairly good, 5-5-5-15 for PC6400 at max.), unless you have the memory in single-channel and are running some really memory-intensive applications (I don't think even Crysis would see significant performance gains).
