Need Some Help Picking A New ISP

It's about time I got a new ISP. I live in Fairfax, Virginia and am currently using Verizon DSL. It's not very good, and I think it's a lot slower then it should be. Using this site: http://www.dslreports.com/stest?loc=1,
Your download speed : 699050 bps, or 682 kbps.
A 85.3 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 135125 bps, or 131 kbps . Yeah I'm not very satisfied. I was wondering if you guys could recommend me a better ISP. Somewhere around $40/mo or less would be perfect. I want to know what you guys think would be the best for my location, and for that price. Thanks for your time.

SBC Global is what we jsut started using, i love it. I also used to have Verizon DSL and it was not very fast, always going out too:(

I think we pay ~$40 a month for a 3000Kbps/500Kbps connection. But it's ~2400Kbps/275Kbps on my wireless.

Thanks for your reply! I was considering Earthlink Cable with advertised speeds of 5000Kbps for about $41.95, but I want to hear what people have to say first.

Do you like verizon though? and is it on 24/7 or often? the reason why is because lately... i been reading about ISP's limiting bandwiths.. so you can just call them up and get an answer out of them.. Earthlink is good.. it comes with all those bundles ad stopper n etc...

dont hold me to it.. but i think they may be limiting your bandwith since they see that you have it on 24/7.. if your using certain programs to download certain things and want a higher speed (anything close to that description).. they may be targeting those programs and limiting the bandwith... are your webapges loading fast? or is it lagging on that also?

it may be that they are limiting your bandwith then.. i would personally call and check first before you do the switch.. if not, feel free to switch over to earthlink or sbc.. or whichever you prefer
