Need Some Help Please- What Prog. To Use???

Hey I've got a quick question- My mother isn't computer literate and we're on opposite sides of the US. I don't really want a spyware but I need a program to where I could see what shes doing and maybe help her out by taking control at times. When I was in school I believe it was a Microsoft program that controlled all the computer together. Where a teacher could go into another room and through another computer see what each student was looking at and even send them IM. Does anyone know what program that was or have any advice as to what program to get? Thanks in advance.
 
sounds like your school used Windows Remote Desktop capability to control the other computers... im not sure how to set that up though...
 
Hmmm ok, thanks for your input. I found a program called "Soft Activity" which companies use- but its only for LAN. I need something that I can send her and she can install it or place somewhere and we can go from there.
 
For LogMeIn, all she would have to do is download the installer and install the program, then from your computer (it doesn't have to be in a LAN, it'll will work from anywhere in the world) you can take over her computer by logging in on the website.
 
hmmm... this is actually a good tech support program for computer illiterate...
beats talking on the phone guiding them through the steps that they don't even understand in the first place... all we need to do is log on, take over the comp and fixed it...

but then again we would probably be faced with a lot of legal issues since they will be saying something along the line of invasion of privacy and getting suspicious of us stealing their personal information.
