I have a lot of my movies saved on my computer and would like to burn them onto dvds to clear up memory on my laptop...the problem is when i tried to burn them using any like divx, windows player thing, or the cyberlink trial i had they all burned them as data forms that wouldnt obviously play in my dvd player, then i tried nero and it wouldnt burn anything at all, i was told i needed to convert my files and i needed some winavi converter, so now that i have that and tried to burn it still didnt work, can someone please tell me what im doing wrong or what i should do to actually make it work

first i used windows media and that didnt work, then i downloaded nero and tried that and it did nothing, so then i tired to use the cyberlink that came with my computer and that did nothing either, so i tried this other program (dont know the name) that i looked up on google that said it would be good for all my needs but it didnt work either, then i tried the burner that came with my convertor program and that didnt work either, so i dont know what to use or what to do!!

You will want to use DVD Shrink and ImgBurn. They are both freeware and you can find them in my siggy.

Open Shrink and find the file that you are looking for. It will compress the file to fit on a DVD5. You can also edit any extras on there as well. Once Shrink has analyzed the movie, click Backup. It will ask you how you want to back up the movie. If there is an option for ImgBurn, go ahead and use it. Shrink will open IB automatically and then you should set the burn speed to 4X and cick the big button. :)

ok i downloaded both...when i go to open the file i want to 'shrink' it shows me the folder i have them saved in but not the movie itself...what do i do about that??

These pics are clickable:

In the first pic, you see where the movie is. Open the file and there should be a Video TS file. That is the movie.

When you open Shrink, go to the movie you want and open it. The Video TS file should be there, open it and Shrink will open a window and start analyzing it.

Sounds to my like these movies are in .AVI format and no in proper DVd structure. Am I correct. If they are indeed, .AVI's, you will need to auther them to DVd complient formats and structures.

well the pictures helpbut it doesnt show the video folder under the movie named folder...i think they may be the wrong format so how do i properly format them??

gee, i probably sound like i shouldnt be messing with any of this with as many problems as i have...;) but that program is great, the only problem is half way through converting the movie it tells me access denied or cannot complete or some movies it just doesnt pick up the audio, or wont let me convert it at all....i tried looking into that forum but everything is old and kinda confusing to me...can you try to explain to me what im doing wrong please :)

I need to see in the files, but I had a better idea. My friend locoeng has a forum that is just up your alley. Here's the link - and these guys know their sh!t.
