Hi. New guy posting. *Wave*
I have a laptop; Toshiba Sattelite Pro 4600.
When I try to boot from the linux CD, the computer doesn't recognize it as a system disk, and asks me to insert a valid system disk. I have also tried with a boot diskette. Anyone have any idea what I can do? Or am I stuck with windows? :(

Yes. If you mean boot from CD that is. Otherwise I don't know... :)
I tried with a windows XP CD to see if there was some problem with the laptop not being able to boot from CDs, but it boots from the XP CD so... Any idea what is wrong?
Or rather, what I can do to get linux on it?
Thanks for the reply.

go into your bios and change the boot order to cd rom. or press the f12 key i believe to choose what you want to boot from.

I have tried that.
First I thought it was the win2k boot loader that didn't allow me to boot from CD, but when I put the XP CD in, it booted just fine...
Now I've wiped the HDD, so there is nothing MS left on it... So it seems that Toshiba has made a deal with MS or something...
