I bought a western digital networkable 1tb external hard drive and im havin trouple setting it up. The software that came with the hard drive (mionet) doesnt let you access pretty much any type of media file on the hard drive, i dont understand why. Is there a different program i can use that will let me access all my files?

I'm not familiar with the unit but, generally, you should not need software to access files. You should be able to access them directly from Windows. The external drive or NAS or whatever should have a drive letter and behave just like any other drive attached to the system.

how would i go about mapping the drive, or what do i need to do to get my computer to recognize it? its connected to a router via ethernet and my laptops picking up a wireless signal from that router...

I don't know your setup. The software that accompanies it should have a driver if a driver is necessary. Personally I have a NAS which connects and looks like a computer to the network (it is a computer actually) and I have a USB external drive in an enclosure for my notebook. That one just gets recognized as a drive by the OS just like a thumb drive or card reader or whatever would. Perhaps it's time to get support from the manufacturer.
