Need some help

A few weeks ago I had the "Windows XP Recovery virus". Did all the steps to get rid of it. Seemed to work. Computer was fine for a couple weeks, then that same virus popped up again. Got rid of it again, then decided to do a system restore to an earlier date about a month ago when everything was fine. That somehow seemed to spawn a whole assortment of other virus' and spyware somehow.

Spybot is constantly bringing up a pop up that says something is trying to alter different programs and process' on the computer, which I always deny. Search engine searches always get redirected when I click the link. I have random audio playing over my computer speakers off and on even though I don't even have any browsers or anything open.

Malwarebytes picks up a infection or two with a full scan, but they are back within hours. Spybot picks up a infection called "right media" among others with every scan, but it is always back next scan. Have windows defender running. I have avast anti-virus which always comes away with a clean scan. I downloaded Windows malicious software remover from Microsoft's website, found infections and removed them, but clearly it didn't get rid of them permanently.

I tried turning off system restore and doing a scan in safe mode, didn't work. I tried downloading TDDSKiller, but for some reason it wont open after downloaded, it just does nothing. Tried renaming the file, downloading from an alternate source, same result.

Can someone please help. Not sure what else to do. I am not too computer tech savvy. Thanks.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here or here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. Please keep updating until it says you have the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

If for some reason Malwarebytes will not install or run please download and run Rkill.scr, Rkill.exe, or Rkill.com but DO NOT reboot the system and then try installing or running Malwarebytes. If Rkill (which is a black box) appears and then disappears right away or you get a message saying rkill is infected, keep trying to run rkill until it over powers the infection and temporarily kills it. Once a log appears on the screen, you can try running malwarebytes or downloading other programs.


Post the malwarebytes log along with a fresh hijackthis log.

Haven't noticed any problems in the few hours following the combofix. But it was never constant before.
