Hey full run down of why this is needed is in the Cooling section under "Asus and XP dont mix" thread

anyways

i want to keep all my stuff on my HDD and all the installed software (windows included) so i have 2 questions

1. if i swtich from a Asus K8VSEDX mobo to another of the same will windows still work without a reinstall ????

2. if i do upgrade to the DFI board will i be able to make windows work without losing any progy's????

any help is greatly acepted
Thanks guys
Joe

What does the other thread have to do with this???
1. Yes
2. I dunno why you'd not want to reformat (as the performance would prolly be better) but it depends really, cant give a solid answer

Ok thanks

the other thread was included since it's the reason that this one came about since i need to get another mobo

1. ok great there policy is part for part so im getting the ASUS back although im thinking of selling it now for the DFI

2. id rahter not reformat to save all my game files and such and all the software i have installed its not going to be that big of a problem i guess it just takes ages to update all my progys since im on dial-up

on a side note why is it that the 100GB-160GB dd's are less than a buck a gig? but the others are more? i have been looking since i need more storage but the way prices are i think im just going to get another 160.

and how much of a speed diferance is there between ATA100(WD) and UltraDMA133(Max) and a SATA drive??? (all cache sizes the same) strictly data transfer

Thanks
Joe
