Need some quick help on my HDS

Hey guys,

in recently got a new HD. So i embarked on a reformatt and fresh install of my OS in both HD's.
My new hd i have my OS installed and everythings ready to go
My old HD..well.im having trouble.I go to delete the paration and i cannot do so because i need temperary install files?
And i can't delete it through the recovery disk due to invalid access

Im really confused.and do not now how to fix this. I have tryed formatting and i am currently trying again through windows on my new HD.

Can anyone suggest anything?
 
You can try using a liveCD to delete the partition.

A windows XP install disk should be able to delete the partition. I'm not quite sure I understand what you are doing. You have your OS installed 2x then, 1 on each drive? Are you trying to delete the partition from Windows after booting off the new hard drive?
 
well i just got a new HD
SO.
i went to reformatt both HD's and reinstall OS on them both.
Or do i need to even install a OS on the other to run RAID?

The harddrive that i had at the start well.i cannot delete the partition with the OS on it to reformatt it to get it back to 250gbs.
all my files are still on it.

And the windows disc and recovery i cannot seem to get to work.

so you want whatever OS on both HDDS? and im not sure i get it... why do you want RAID? and you should be able to format the old HDD... what message is it giving you?

you can also try and install whatever OS on the new HDD, then put the older HDD as slave and reformat...
 
ok.update guys
I did some research
and i figured i do not need a OS installed on my second Hd for RAID

i managed to dl partition magic earlier and delete the partition.
So im not sure how its gona go when i format it
ill update

But when i would go earlier to delete the partition.i couldn't because the partition i wanted to delete had temproary files that i supposidly needed.
and under the recovery disk the access was denied.
I tryed formatting under command prompt and i would get a error telling me that the formatt could not be completled for some reason.

Im gona run some tests on the HD.check for errors and such.
any other suggestions?
 
I went to formatt it earlier.and i had to reboot. When i rebooted. it went to boot to start the format.and I get this
NIVIDA BOOT AGENT and it shows me my mac address and then it takes like.4 mins and says boot file not found, and does this over and over.
I have unplugging my unformatted drive, and tryed it.it does this. i have tryed plugging in my unformatted and it still does this?
This is really starting to become a bother.

What can i do to fix this?
 
I think my problem here is now..i cannot boot
i think that is because on my newly formatted drive there was no bootable sector.
Then on my old drive i deleted the partition using partitionmagic from my other drive and went to reboot so it could go about formatting the drive.

So i rebooted without a bootable sector
Can anyone help please :(
if i insert the windows disk i still cannot boot.

Well if i can ill do a fresh install on both.
But the problem is with the only boot device set as ROM or the boot sequence as say.ROM, HD,Removable etc it goes to boot into windows.and always tells me
Boot from cd:
DISK BOOT FALIURE PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

I place my xp disk in there and hit enter.comes up again.
Tryed my MB disc to no avail
nothing seems to boot
 
seems like both your CD Drive and HD is not recognized by the BIOS. try tightening the cable connection for both. might help, not sure.
