hi
I am looking for a laptop for school use and will be used mostly for downloading and waitching movies.

I am not looking for a computer that is good for gameing since i hartly play any of them.

I like the designs of the Sony and Samsung laptops but I think they are over charged. (I don't like the designs of compact and dell)

I would liket o buy a laptop with at lest 2.5GHz or higher. (which Processors sould i get.) P4, P4-M, Pentium 4 Mobile , AMD, Celeron mobile, or Centrino? (i am not sure if all these processors are avilbal for Laptops.)

The laptop should have a good video card with TV out, big hard drive, at lest 512 of DDR, screen would be 17", nice design, DVD burner, nice and reliable.

I am planing on spaning around $1000, it is probly hard find the computer that i want for this price.
But
Please give any suggestions that you may have, the more the better.

please help me find some examples and post the link.

Thanks

You might want to consider increasing your price range, no 17" laptop is going to cost near $1,000..... try at LEAST $1,500 considering you want a good video card with TV-Out and a 2.5GHz Processor. Or, you can ditch the widescreen and save ALOT of money. Then from here, I can try to help you find the right laptop to suit your needs and price range.

Okay I could spend forever looking for a laptop for its cheapest price following your standards. but I'm not too confident those are your actual laptop standards. Would you tell me exactly what you plan to use this notebook/laptop for. What will be used alot and what wont be used... etc... Then I'll know what to look for in a laptop and what the price range is going to be.

well im not him, but i do also want a laptop,,,,i dont know who to ask because most people are closed minded thinking its hard to get a laptop for 1,00(have you heard of ebay.com, price watch") any ways my point is that a good laptop might had come last year for 1500 and maybe now used or in stores might be 1200,, but in ebay might be for 999$,,get me? the thing is i dont know much about laptops and i dotn want to choose the first crap i find for 999$....i wasnt to at least get to play HALF life(yes i said it) in the lowest settings. or in normal if possible,,I KNOW YOU CAN HELP ME<PLEASE DO<YOULL BE DOING A FAVOR FOR ALOT OF PEOPLE THAT CANT AFORD TO PAY 1,500 on a LAPTOP<<THANK YOU AND SORRY< FOR SOME OF MY ATTITUDE GLITCHES<

was there a point to this?

You can usually follow the same guidelines you'd use to buy a desktop, look for telltale signs that it is a piece of junk, you can find lots of laptops with good video if you're willing to pay for it

I never had a HP laptop but I been looking at there website and it appears you can get a fairly nice one there easily for 1500. from all the sites I seen HP seem to have the best prices out of the places that let you customize what you get.
