I need to access file C:\SystemvolumeInformation\_restore in my computer in order to delete a file that is a virus should I look in the registry?

open any folder and go to "tools->Folder Options" go to the "view" tab, scroll down and untick "hide protected operating system files", also tick "show hidden files/folders", apply and click ok.
Now simply go to your C drive and you'll see System volume

cheers

hope you don't actually screw your OS..lol

lol i just tried to find it and its not there. so im scanning for viruses. hopefully i have one in there so i can follow the path XD

actually yeah. would you only know that there was a virus there if your antivirus software said?

and wouldnt it then just delete it?

yes and no it wouldn't allow me to delete it oh well guess I'll just do a reinstall of xp and let it download all the updates. I did delete that file that was in restore and the adware still kept popping up.

wait. there must be more you can do.

try other software to search for adware. what are you currently using?

I use Trend Micro PCcillen most viruses it lets me delete but this one has gone down into the registry to the point exe files that bring it up reappear after deleting them. What software should I try?

Sorry I lied it didn't work it just tamed it for a while and it built its self back up lucky I gotta pretty strong computer. But anyways the darn thing does a physical memory dump it has something to do with a driver when i go to fix the problems Spybot finds.

lol i have 2 antivirus programs on my computer. one for normal use. and one for extra scanning. cos quite often one will miss stuff and the other one will pick it up. so yeah. try scanning with avg free or something.

i mean, you were saying that you might just do a fresh install. you shouldnt have to do soemthing like that. but if you dont have much to back up then it cant hurt
