Need supreme help...

My g/f downloaded a virus on my computer by accident and it did a friggin number on it. The problem became that the video signal would just stop and my monitor would go black and tell me it wasn't getting any input. I switched monitors to double check and it wasn't the monitor. Upon restart it would stop detected my keyboard and ask to run a disk check since I couldn't see to shut it down properly. Every so often it would freeze during the disk check and I would have to restart or the monitor would go black again.. so on and so forth. when I finally got it working I downloaded SUPERantispywar and it detected 2 codec changers and 24 or so adware. I deleted them and everything was cool for a few hours. Last night it started doing it again and then it wouldn't even restart so I did what I had to and reformatted the hard drive. After loading everything back into my computer I restarted it so the new drivers would take effect (video card, sound, keyboard and mouse) and it all started again! How is this even possible? I just downloaded the hijackthis logger so here's my scan:

By the way, I have an HP pavillion a1700n with a GeForce 8800GTS, 4 gigs or ram, Fatal1ty sound car, Logitech G11 keyboard and MX518 mouse. Any help would be IMMENSELY appreciated!!!

Hijackthis said it couldn't access some of the host files and I assumed it was short since I jut reformatted and there isn't much on here right now.

Like you mentioned though, I was thinking it might be a hardware problem as well but everything in my computer is relatively new. I know that doesn't make much difference but everything seemed to be going alright. Is there any way to check my video card and whatnot?

Logfiles for newly formatted systems are always short, and while I would suggest installing a good antivirus as soon as possible, your logfile does appear to be clean. It's pretty much impossible for malware to survive a complete reformat anyway, unless you have a second drive that you didn't format, or restored some infected files from backup, although I seriously doubt this is the case.

I agree that a hardware problem is the most likely cause. If you have a spare video card you can try replacing it, but this will likely void your warranty. I know this probably isn't what you want to hear, but if it's a new HP system, I'd return it to HP under warranty and let them sort it out.

THanks for the input thus far. The card I have in now was bought at the end of August to replace the onboard Geforce 6150 that could barely run solitaire :D Almost every item in the computer has been upgraded with the exception of the mobo and processor. I'll try disconnecting the 8 series and see if it happens again. If so, I hope Newegg will let me return it
