I have Windows XP and a 7600 G-force video card in a newly build pc. I tried playing a vcd ( made from a movie) which works fine in my older W2000 computer in any of the players i have there.
I get a message in Quicktime that the proper compressor could not be found. All players on the new computer will not play this.Winows media player 10 does not even give me this clue. Is this a codec issue?

for vcds as well as dvds and even audio cds the Cyberlink program PwoerDVD has no problems playing video cd-rs as well as dvds. That will also run video and audio files in various formats like mpeg II and avi as well as mp3 and wav type audio files.

WMP 10 was the best for XP with support for the same things making that a surprise. Ouicktime on the other hand is a different story there. That's Apple not MS there. The file itself may be the reason if it was somehow damaged or missing needed information. A corrupted video will fail to run on just about any player.
