Need To Be Able To Play Most Recent Games

I'm a complete noob when it comes to video cards and the statistics displayed when purchasing one, so I really have no clue what card to buy. Basically I'm looking for a video card that can play pretty much every game that's come out thus far, I dont care if it wont be able to play games that come out in the years to come...

i have about $320 tops to purchase one, i'm wondering if this would be enough to get one that would fit my needs. If what i'm looking for would on average cost more than 320-ish...could you tell me how much it would cost and on average how great the video cards around this price range are??

i know what i'm asking is really opinion based and i'm not being very specific but i'd really appreciate any help...

if needed here's some info about my comp...

2.2gh processor
2gb of RAM
running windows vista

Can you give more info? I was going to recommend the ATI 4870 right away in that price range, but then I noticed you have a "2.2gh processor." Is that dual core? Intel or AMD? It might not be worth spending over $300 on a GPU alone if it's going to be bottlenecked by your CPU.

So yea, more info please.

Before you get a high end card make sure that both your CPU and Mobo are good enough to handle it, or you will end up with a bottleneck.

sorry lol...yeah it's a intel pentium dual-core 2.2gh processor.

thanks for the help btw, i'll wait for your reply:)

i'm using a widescreen lcd monitor with a resolution of 1300x768-ish...(cant remember exact resolution at the moment i'm on a diff comp)

ZeroWing mean using max Video settings in games. Maxing everything out, looks like you aren't judging from your PC specs.

so basically is the ati 4870 good for my comp.

if you need any more specs about my comp then ask away...and i found out it's a 2.0gh processor not a 2.2 like i had thought. a pentium 2.0 dual-core processor.

Honestly, judging from the rest of your computer, spending 300 on a GPU alone is going to be a waste. I would upgrade your CPU (and mobo if necessary) and get a decent GPU, rather than get a kickass GPU that is limited by the rest of your system.

Also, among the other things mentioned.

what case do you have? is it big enough for a 4870? As they are a 10" long card
