Well it depends, who are you returning it to?

It's not hard to overheat an Xbox 360. Like I said in another thread, duck tape the back ventilation of your 360, and let it run. It will probably take 15mins.

Just tell the retailer that it freezes up, and that you're disgusted with the product and the company that made it, so you just want a full refund.

when you take it back to the store you can just tell them that the disk tray quit working or something, or that it wont turn on. more than likley the store isnt going to check it, so youll get your cash.

to be fair its more likely that if you take it back they will replace it with a working one rather than offer a refund. First thing any retailer will do is offer a like for like swap. Might have to kick up one hell of a stink to get a refund, will also depend on how long you've had it for too

one way to get a refund, is to say you bought it for a freind, but it turns out he already ahs one, so you have no use for it, then they give you a refund, ive done that before, anythign else then they will jsut replace it, so there isnt really a point in breaking it..

draogn

Whether you get a refund or not is going to depend on how long you've had the 360. If you've had it for over a month then you're screwed(it may even be just 15 days). If you've had it for only a few days/weeks they may just give you store credit at most. Where did you buy it and did you get any warranty on it? I think the only way you can get a cash refund(unlikely) is to have the thing look brand new, no scratches, perfect condition, with everything inside the box. Not even the box can look like crap, but everything is going to end up relying on store policy.

14 days is the legal limit for a refund, after that its just an exchange, after a month or so the store can refuse all together if its not got an extended warranty, most likely you will be pointed to the manufacturer for a repair/exchange

ok thx every1 appreciate the replies.. I got it from Game in the UK and i got it over the internet. Last time it actually broke and i exchanged it after about 3 months. Ive had it since launch day (december time) Well ive had this second one for about 2 months. Ive foned them up and they said they will exchange. I said on the fone im pissed off with it totally and i just want my money back. And the bloke said that was ok!!!

He then said that if i bought it on the internet ill have to return it through the internet. I dont know why i cant just take it into the shop. But he said must be done thru the internet. I think i mite just walk in there screwing about it. Hopefully they will get scared and just give me back my money. My mate said instal the update for it and halfway thru the installation just turn off the power. He said it wont boot back up again??

Any1 know if this works. Ive got internet reciept all box parts etc. i think ill be alright taking it back to the shop. but i hope they wont check it. Gona look on website to see how i return this over the internet.

even if you do only get store credit from where you bought it from you can still use that money toward your computer. if you bought it from walmart, you could get your hard drive, video card, mouse, keyboard, monitor, ect. there with that money.

be interested to see if they will give the money back over the internet after such a long time. IF they do then fair play to ya

As for taking it into store you will most likely be told internet only as they are essential set up as two seperate entities in business so the shop would not be obliged to refund

why dont you jsut sell you 360 on ebay, or put it for sale in the local paper or something, dont bother with a refund if its going to be hassle.... and it would be cash, not store credit

ive looked on ebay coz that was my initial way of selling. But i have seen them go for 170 -190 uk pounds. I want all my money back from it. I need all i can get to build da computer

What store did you purchase it from?

My bet is, they give you "store credit". You aren't going to get cash back in most places, they want to guarantee business. The only places that do cash back around here are small privately owned placed, not big retailers.

Bought it from game (read above)

Ive sent them an email asking about how to return the xbox. If its too much hassle im just gona kick up a stink about it
