Need to choose 8GB of RAM for Intel core I7 S1155 on Asus P8P67EVO MB

Hi!

I've been trying to figure this out on my own but eventually had to ask for help because there are just too many options. I must get it right because this new PC will have to serve me at least 3-4 years.

There are some issues with this CPU (i think) that actually slow the memory down.. so I see no point in considering anything slower than 1800Mhz then there's the voltage issue (that it has to be lower than 1.57 volts, and I think that the lower it is the better). Then there's the CL6, CL8... which I don't even know the meaning of.

Can you recommend specific modules (manufacturer + model) that would be fast, reliable and fault-free offering good heat dissipation. I'm not asking for absolutely the best (cuz that's big bucks), however, I am prepared to shell out a few extra $ on a good product.

I need 8GBs of Ram and I don't even know if it's better to get 4 modules of 2GB or 2 models of 4GB.

The P8P67EVO motherboard is insane. It offers lots of options for RAM Overclocking... so that's probably something I should take into consideration.

Thanks!

Ok since your working with a Sandy Bridge processor it take dual channel memory, whick means you buy in stick of 2 instead of the old intel triple channel sticks of 3. Now if i remember correctly the intel chips work good with a CL of 9. The number you see on the chips usually 4 digits long line 9-9-9-28, or 7-8-7-24 its the speed at which the memory operates.

Its always better to buy fewer bigger sticks than alot of small sticks. So for you 2 sticks of 4gb is better than 4 sticks of 2gb. Most enthusiasts buy memory at 1600mhz, anything higher isnt really worth the money if you dont need it.

Id recommend these but let someone else chime in as well because i hear Asus mobo's are picky when it comes to memory

I think I got something

Great post, man! Thanks!

After some 3 hours of searching and checking specs I think I have a candidate:

G.Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL (4Gx2)
speed: DDR3-1600 (PC3 12800)
CAS Latency 9-9-9-24-2N
voltage: 1.5v

Everything seems to be the way I need it plus they offer lifetime warranty. The only thing is that I couldn't find my motherboard in the: "Qualified motherboards list". I want to ask about it in their own forum (I'm waiting for my brand new login to become activated).

In the meantime: Wouldn't it be nice if someone just happened to already have those very same motherboard and memory? And they posted a reply to tell me that it works just great?.... I know I'm asking for too much. I'm in no real hurry, so I won't post this in a new thread until I see what they have to say in the other forum.
