Ok...big issue here.

I downloaded some nvidia drivers off of their site, followed the instruction to intall new ones. It prompted me to uninstall current ones, did that auctomatically...then restared my cpu.

When i turned it on the resolution was 800x600...and it automatically asked me to install new drivers. It was supposed to prompt me for "new hardware found"..but it just took me to the nvidia install screen...and why did my resolution suddenly go to lowest possible?

So i installed the "new" ones, but im not sure if their new or what...did the installation process go like it was supposed to?

I logged onto Wow...and the fps was actually slightly less then before the install. These drivers were supposed to increease 3d performance along with other things...but i dont even know if anything new was installed. I checked the Vista performance numbers and the calculation score had gone up by .3

So did downloaded drivers install or what?...they were Geforce 8 drivers for 32bit system.

I was afraid, so tried to system restore...but the computer prompted me that it encountered a problem and was unable to restore... WTF!....

I would reckon a guess that it went to the lowest possible because after uninstalling the drivers you didn't have any drivers installed to support higher resolutions.

Look in Device Manager (Start -> Run -> devmgmt.msc) under the Display heading to see if your drivers installed correctly.

You may need to go into your nVidia preferences and tweak some settings

I don't know why. :(

If you aren't happy with the new driver, could you not always just re-install the old one (from disk, or wherever you got it)?
