how can i prepare my computer with different partitions?

i have only one partition in which there is windows xp (professional edition) operating. this windows xp is not operating properly. i like to install windows xp (home edition), but i need to prepare my computer with different partitions before i install it.

my computer is hp pavilion xt938.

During the installation you can make/change partitions. :)
