Need Urgent Assistance Please

Hello,

I am wanting to upgrade my Windows XP to Vista Home Premium. There is only one problem. It says my video card doesn't support Vista's Aero Features, and I need to upgrade my video card. I do not know how to upgrade, and I do not know what type of card I have. My computer is fairly new, purchased a little over a year ago from Dell, and it should have a good card, but I'm not sure.

Please give some advice!

Thanks!

Hello, welcome to the forum!

Did that message appear when you where installing Vista? Can you still start up Vista to perhaps disable Aero?

If you would like hardware advice, we would need more information. Does the dell have a model name of some sort?

I know in windows XP if you click start->run and type "dxdiag" it opens a program that detects your computer's hardware (I'm not sure if Vista has the same thing).

The more information you give, the more we can give back!

ican confirm the dxdiag in vista. it does work, however, to get the run feature to get onto the start menu you have to enable it.
right click the start button--> properties--> customize--> and select it from the menu.
Or you can change the search functions to allow searching through files and folders on the drives and you can actually just use the start menu's "live search" for dxdiag and it will pop up as the only item that matches :)
