Need your input(Now with pics)

Hello people,i'm new to this forum and when it comes to computers i don't know a great deal about configuring hardware and graphic drivers etc.I just bouth a new PC and i'm having some problems when running games. For example:I'm playing Ground Control 2 and as soon as the main menu appears there are some random black and coloured boxes that appear and dissappear on the screen, like blink blink. It's happening in almost every game i play, sometimes they are more intense, sometimes it's ok-ish.Ok,my PC:
MSI Neo 4 Platinum 939
AMD Athlon64 3000 box
MSI NX6600GT 128PCIe
1Gb Ram Kingmax ddr400
Monitor LG LCD L1915s(1280x1024@60Hz)

OS WinXP/Media Center;
graphic Drivers(7.2.1.4)
DirectX 9.0c

Please reply as soon as you can. Thanks in advance.
Lazar. ;)

Almost sounds like a hardware problem, but I don't know if I quite know what you're talking about. Do you think you could post some pictures or something of the problem?

Yes i think you're right,i've tried three different graphic drivers and the probmles still acoures.I even tried my old CTR monitor and the coloured squares and black dots were also there. So i think it might be a hardware problem with the graphic card.I'll try and post some pics but could you tell me how do i capture a screen in a game and how to post pics?
[ i m g ]adress of pic here[/ i m g] without the spacers??
Thanks.

Ok,some pics of my problem:
At first everyting is ok,some 45-60sec

After that this happens

in game everything is ok

everything is NOT ok

I can even show you my Performance&Quality settings but i don't think thats the issue here, cause even when the settings are Restored/Default the problem still persists but it's not that visibe(just random black/white squares and blinks.
Need your advice guys.Thank you.

I think your video card might be overheating, and yes
im g] lets you embed images

Cromewell, did you see the pics mate?cause i couldn't post them here, some administrator restriction bla,bla....never mind.My card is overheating?Every time i check it's temperature when in Windows and the system is idle it's reading about 65 degrees C,and the critical point is 127C.How do i check the temp. when in game?Alt-TAB and see the temp. reading??
Thanks for the reply mate.

just checked the GPU core temp. using alt-TAB and it red 101degC is this normal? Is the card over heating?
Also the NX6600GT is brand new and i've done nothing to it that i don't understand, like overcloking it etc.

The MSI model has serious heatsink mounting issues and yes 101deg is too hot. If you are able to, exchange it for a new 6600GT

Ok first can you explain me the heatsink mounting stuff? And thats the average in game GPU core temp. when playing some demanding new games like this or HL2,Farcry etc.?
Thanks.

Yup

Serious overheating problems there man. I thought my card almost hitting ninety was extremely hot...but yours is ridiculously high. The thing you are seeing are textures "falling apart" which are called ARTIFACTS. However, have it returned for a new one. This is certainly not right. I am surprised your card is still alive ;).

As for what Cromewell said:

1. He meant that the HSF is not mounted well on some MSI cards resulting in poor heat transfer between the core and the HSF (hence your problem).

2. Really, I would say that the average temp should be somewhere in the vicinity of 75-80 Celsius after some very heavy load.

My 6600GT will max out at about 60, the only exception is when the AC was off and my house was 30 degrees, then it hit 70.

The heatsinks on the 6600s are mounted by 2 spring pegs, and the circular design on the MSI card is prone to rocking which can tear the thermal pad.

The texture thing Jan is talking about is artifacting.

you could either try and get the graphics card replaced, or buy a new heatsink for it. the replacement would be cheaper and probably less hassle. arent those "falling apart" things called artifacts. granted i havent had my 6600gt long, but i havent seen it go above 55°c yet

Ok,cheers i've just been on the phone with the sales manager and he also told me that the temp. on heavy load should read about 80C,so i'm gonna take the PC down to the Computer store tommorow to have the Video card replaced.Cheers for the comments guys. ;)
