plz read my problem and help me out if u can ...thx
have an intel p4 2.8
k i found in the bios under CPU Host/Pci CLOCK
some options...
126/33mhz
133/33mhz
134/33mhz
148/37mhz
.and more..
the 133 is the deafult 2.8 when i put is to 148 the pc doesnt start...so i need more voltage.. i cant change my voltage in bios ... so i found a programm on my mb manual... that said i could change the voltage throw that...
i havent tried anything with the programm yet but it looks handy.. and got some decent options there ..

so i guess i only whant to get it to 148 coz 148 x 21 = 3180 and that what i whant (i think) but i dont know about the voltage is shouls put to it..
i must put enough to be able to open and not too much so it not get fried or getting overheated..
{i have a GOOD case cooling with 3 fans} {but the deafult heatsink/fan for the cpu [ i am planning to change that]

Sooo.. any1 to help out...? :D ;)

Heya I am not so sure about you being to overclock from the above info.

These numbers (right ones) reveal that by getting it to the 3Ghz + mark, your PCI bus will run at 37 Mhz which is too much. Some consider it on the borderline. I think that it's causing problems to the devices on the PCI bus and therefore disallowing you to overclock well. You do not seem to have a good PCI lock on-board the motherboard. Without it, overclocking is out of the question.

THX man thats what i was looking for.... a str8 reply .. overclocking is out of the question coz u know better and i dont whanna end up with something fried ...
So what do u recommend ? a better motherboard "friendlier" for ocing ? or smth ?
 
check for a bios update first, they might have sorted the pci lock thingyou could try a little past your last OC value to see if the pci lock comes back into an acceptable range

You are welcome. There are better boards out there, however, I am not sure what the best options are for the Intel platform. However, there are certanily boards which will have their PCI buses locked. That's the ideal situation as you can overlock the processor and the bus without overclocking the other devices on the motherboard. I hope someone more Intel-igent will suggest a good replacement for overclocking. You may consider leaving it and getting a better mobo/processor combo later.
