Needing a new PSU for upgrade

Hey folks...
Ive begun to notice that my came along with case PSU is starting to bust on me and Im gonna be upgrading soon neways so why not do the PSU now. Im looking at spending approximatly 100-130 dollars for a good PSU. It needs to be strong enough to handle the upgrade im gonna put in it. My upgrades will make my computer as follows... AMD X2 5400+, 2gigs Dual Channel ddr2 800 Corsair XMS2, eVGA 8800gts 640mb, main HDD a 100+gig raptor 10,000rpm (dont know how much space ill get yet) and a secondary drive of a SATAII 350gig 7200rpm, Creative Soundblaster Audigy 4 pro, and 1 super optical drive from SONY that does cd and dvd burning and is dual layer able.

The new PSU i want must be able to support all this with some extra juice on the side. PSU's are the only pieces of pc hardware ive never researched much on or even installed but have a friend that will do it i just need the PSU. Any good suggestions would help... Thanks :D
 
The Corsair HX520 would be my recommendation. On another note, PSUs are really very easy to install. Just unplug the old cables and plug the new ones in - they'll only go in one place.
 
Keseva will that 600w even work with my mobo??? It shows a 8 pin cpu connector but my motherboard has a 4 pin.... Like i said i dont know squat about psu's lol
 
ceewi thanks for the reply as well u kes....ceewi's suggestion looks nice but i need to know if thatll be more than enough power for my upgrade.
 
The Xion would work, however I really wouldn't go for it. The total amperage on the +12V rail(s) is far more important than the wattage - either the Corsair or the Antec will put out far more useful power than the Xion.

And yes, the Corsair would be more than sufficient for your system. If you intend to go with SLI'd 8800GTSs, something like a Silverstone OP650 would be a great choice.
 
no im just going with a single card machine since i hear that any high end video card can perform fine by itself and SLI on high end cards is only for those few extra frame per second and the ability to run very high reso's which my monitor is stuck to 1280x1024 anyways so i dont need that much lol. The reason why i was wondering about psu's cause i guess mine is dying. My pc shuts off in the middle of highend games like bf2, bf2142, farcry, and company of heroes and im told this is due to the come with case psu is failing and not getting the sufficient power to the computer. Does this sound right?
 
Yes, a faulty PSU can definitely cause those problems. Do you know what PSU you have now? You can get some idea for how the unit's performing by measuring the voltages on the key rails, either with a multimeter or even just with software tools like Speedfan or MBM.

Another possible cause of those problems is excessively high temperatures.
 
yea my buddy told me from now on NEVER purchase or use a come with case PCU. ALWAYS buy a good one that didnt come with case cause i guess their faulty with non stable power and bad rails.
