i am wanting to download some old skool games from the NES that i can play on my computer. i looked on bearshare and there are these emulators or something that come with like 80 games when you download it. i was just curious how i would get these to work or where could i download some NES games. thanks

for those you get from p2p. most of them time.. they will work.. but u do have to watch out for some of them can come bundled w/ virus/spyware. but its pretty simple.. if u download that whole packet/file with the games and emulator, just open the executable emulator file(should not require installation) and there should be an "open rom" or something similar. there, you point it to that folder where all the games are. ur set.

for games.. just google it

legally, yes. whether you delete them or not is not up to me.
actually, if you own the games and console then its legal to keep them.

why nes when u can snes

and why snes when you can n64, and why n64 when you got a GC and why GC when you got a pc?
ah.. he's got a pc, and want to play the games there. :D

you can download them, but unless you have the actual NES games, you have to delete them after 24 hours
Actually that isn't true. ROMs are illegal even if you have the original game cartridge, sites that claim deletion after 24 hours makes them legal are lying to you.
why nes when u can snes
Cause Battletoads isn't on SNES...neither is The Legend of Zelda (the original) or maybe the draw of Super Mario Bros. 1 is overwhelming...

theres alot of confusion and myths about the laws, here are the actual laws about it broken down in plain english from the antipiracy act:

U.S. law allows you, the owner of a software product, to have three (3) copies of that product at once: the original, an installed copy, and an archive copy. The law does not give a definition to these terms. So, in the sense of a ROM image, you can arguably say that the image on your harddisk is being used to play Zelda 1 is the “installed” copy, the cart that you bough 10 years ago is the “original” copy and a copy of the ROM image on a floppy disk, tape, website or other medium is a “back-up” copy. But, only one of them can be in use at once. So, playing the game on your NES and on the PC at the same time is ILLEGAL.

If you got a copy of a software product as a **gift** (see section below) it is ILLEGAL to duplicate it. Reason: you are not the original copyright holder

AS OWNER you can give 10 people copies (purchase price must not exceed $1000) every 180 days. ROMS sites that don't control how many people are downloading their ROMs can get into some deep trouble if someone can prove that more then 10 people are downloading them everyone 180 days.

unauthorized modification of software (ROM images) that you legally own is illegal.

24 hour law limit was removed during the 1997 anti-piracy act.

The law does not state how you can make an archive copy of your game.

why pc when u can....lol but old skool games are cool. i rekon u should download mame it is awesome when arcade games are concerned it can play most of the older consoles

its all about dont ask, dont tell...nobody is going to hunt you down for playing a game from 15 years ago. during my junior year of high school, all i did during class was play genesis roms on my laptop. theres nothing like streets of rage during history of the americas....

There is that, but then you have to follow the copyright that the game gives you when you get it.
