Netbook for TV DVR

I connected my old laptop to my TV, and used that to play movies. That was ALL the laptop was used for. All I needed was something to connect to the internet (via WiFi) to download videos, store video files, and play them on my TV. My old laptop recently died, and now I need to find a replacement. I was looking at some cheap netbooks and had some questions...

Most netbooks come with Windows 7 STARTER. It doesnt come with the full version of windows. Does that matter in this case? Will I still be able to connect to the internet, connect to my network, download, and play video/music files?

Also, I'm concerned about video quality. Will the resolution on a netbook be ideal for my TV? Or, since my TV is 46", will the video look pixelated and unclear?

I'm currently looking at an HP netbook, but want these questions answered before proceeding. Please let me know.

Also, if you recommend another netbook for my purposes, please let me know why.

I am not sure about the resolution if it will enough for your tv, but one thing you need to check out, how do you connect your old computer to your tv? most of these netbooks do not have any hdmi nor s-video or other video output except the vga port. so make sure that before you buy any of these netbook.
cheers.

What is the resolution of your TV? The quality of the image does not matter by the size but rather the resolution. (its more stressful on the GPU to run a 12" 1080p than a 100" 800*600).
Also, I would love to know how you plan to connect your netbook to the TV. It is VGA only (and dont get HP. Asus, Toshiba, or Lenovo are better brands.). You may be able to run a VGA to VGA cable to the TV (seen some VGA capible TV's around), but you will still need a dedicated sound (as netbook sound leaves a lot to be desired.)

Any of the current gen netbooks will do fine for standard definition video. Since you said you had a laptop connected to it at one point, so I assume you already have a vga to vga and a 3.5mm to rca cable for sound.

If you plan on playing 1080p get a netbook with either the radeon hd 6250 or the nvidia 9400 gpu in it.

The HP you linked would work for standard definition content.

Windows 7 starter won't make much of a difference for what your using it for. You'll just have to download VLC player for videos are you'll be good to go.

Something like this would work for high def videos.

It's also got HDMI if you prefer that..I generally don't but it is less cables
