Netbook - HP or Acer?

My friend is going to buy a netbook soon, and she was wondering if she should get an HP and an Acer. She would prefer to go cheap and only get an HP if it's worth it. She is only going to use it for travel (which wouldn't be very often) and for taking notes in school. What are the benefits of HP over Acer? Which should she get?

I just bought one an Asus Eee. I am happy with it. Or my kids bought it for me. Never had either you mentioned though. Asus has choices which i helped pick out.

If it is for sure between those two, I would choose Acer, just because I have bad experience with HP. Their computers are crap, IMO.

^+1, they do suck pretty bad and I would go as far to say they have the worst tech support if it is a serious problem, one time they argued that they didn't need to fix it because I was 3 weeks away from my warrenty end.

I just wanted you to know that netbooks pretty much all have the same hardware so really it doesn't matter which brand you pick. Plus I had a ASUS eeepc and there was more bloatware on there then I cared for.

As I may support ASUS products due to the research I have done on them it has become a problem on this forum where that is all anybody recommend. There are other brands that are just as good. The acer netbook internals are the same as ASUS models netbook and there is little quality difference when we are talking about netbooks. The big difference you will get a acer netbook for less. Just my 2 cents.
