netgear connection is local only

I am using a netgear to connect my internet at home, I have three computer that connects to it without a problem until recently, my Gateway laptop keeps showing local only, the other computer has no problem with the connection except this laptop, however I am able to connect to my neighbor's linksys without a problem with this same laptop...does anyone know what is wrong with it?

What operating system are you running? The first thing to do would be to delete the wireless connection and reconnect to the router. Do you have security set up on the router?

I am using Vista and there is security password, and I just tried deleting the connection and same thing when I did it over, still only local...I do want to add that it sometimes turn into local and internet but for very brief moment before turning back to local only.

Try this, it worked for one of my clients. Remove the security on the router totally. Then reenable it with a different password then connect all machines to router. That should work for you.
